Vetcove’s services are used by the vast majority of veterinary clinics and nonprofits nationwide, including nearly all corporate hospital groups. Since Vetcove is sometimes perceived as a vendor, we are regularly asked to provide funding, sponsorships, or other monetary compensation for clinic or group events throughout the year. This is especially true for annual corporate group gatherings, and each year during tech week.
What is Vetcove’s event sponsorship policy?
We at Vetcove want to support the veterinary community to the maximum extent we possibly can, but unfortunately it is simply impossible to accommodate every such request. So, in an effort to be fair and transparent to all of our users and partners, as a matter of company policy Vetcove does not provide monetary donations to sponsor any hospital or hospital group event.
What will Vetcove staff say if we ask them to sponsor our event?
Vetcove employees are instructed to respectfully decline any sort of sponsorship, donation, or other requests for funds, and to send the requester this policy. Please note that while we cannot provide sponsorship funds, we are still happy to contribute or participate in events on a case-by-case basis, including providing education, training, Vetcove swag, or by adding value to your practice or group in other ways.
If our pharma, diet, and distribution reps can sponsor, why can’t Vetcove?
Your pharmaceutical and diet manufacturers, and your distributors, earn substantial margins from your clinic’s purchases of their products. As such, they are able to set aside meaningful “marketing funds”, often exceeding $1,000 per hospital per year, toward sponsoring meals, events, education, and other activities. This represents a very small percentage of the net revenue the vendor earns from your clinic throughout the year.
Conversely, Vetcove does not earn any margin on the vast majority of your practice’s in-clinic purchases through Vetcove. Vetcove’s services are offered for free (independent clinics) or at nominal cost (enterprise corporate group features), supplemented by monthly fees paid by our manufacturer partners. Notably, Vetcove’s pricing for paid services to manufacturers and hospital groups has not increased since Vetcove began offering such services in 2018 (despite cumulative CPI-U inflation exceeding 25% during this period, and the average cost of veterinary products increasing more than 40%, on average).
Hospitals choose to use Vetcove’s services because we provide incredible platforms and customer service, at very reasonable (or zero) cost to clinics. We’re so proud to be able to offer the services we do at minimal cost, which allows us to have the biggest positive impact on our industry. The downside of our impact-maximizing approach is that our revenue-per-clinic to cover operating costs is incredibly small compared to manufacturers and distributors. This unfortunately prevents us from having a pool of funds to sponsor events.
So while we are unable to sponsor your event, we hope you’ll continue to make full use of Vetcove’s services to improve the productivity and operations of your veterinary practices for many years to come.
Our group has an especially great relationship with Vetcove; Will you make an exception?
Vetcove believes that providing funding or sponsorships for events effectively lowers the total cost of Vetcove’s services for the requesting group or clinic, while not doing the same for others. We firmly believe in treating all of our clinics and groups the same irrespective of size, purchase volume, or corporate ownership. This extends even our largest hospital group partners.
