Check out with multiple suppliers at once with Unified Checkouts

How to use the Unified Checkout flow in Vetcove V2 to place orders with several suppliers at once, including reviewing and placing orders, and handling errors.

The new Unified Checkout feature lets you place orders with several suppliers in one flow, instead of checking out one cart at a time. You select the supplier carts you want, fill in your options for each supplier, review everything together, and place all of your orders at once. Each supplier still receives its own separate order, with the same shipping minimums, cash back, and order confirmations as always. Unified Checkout simply runs the selection, review, and placement steps together to save you time!

Unified Checkout is part of the new and improved Vetcove V2. This feature is available whenever you're using the new experience. Learn more about Vetcove V2 here!

Before you start

A few things to know about who can use Unified Checkout and when:

  • You'll need the Place Orders permission, the same as any current checkout.

  • It's available in the Vetcove V2 view only. If you return to Vetcove V1, you won't be able to access the Unified Checkout flow until you switch back.

  • One Unified Checkout can be in progress per clinic at a time. If someone else at your clinic already has a Unified Checkout open, you won't be able to start a second one until theirs is finished.

  • Clinics that use requisitions won't see this flow. If your clinic checks out through a requisition flow, you'll continue to use the Start Requisition flow as you do today.

Starting a Unified Checkout

  1. In the upper right corner of the Carts page, click Checkout all carts:

  2. In the window that opens, choose the supplier carts you want to check out together. Please note that all of your carts are selected by default. For each cart you'll see its shipping minimum, item count, cash back, and subtotal, plus a combined subtotal at the bottom.

  3. Click Continue with __ carts to begin.

Note: Each order is still ultimately placed with its supplier separately. Selecting them together just lets you move through checkout in one pass!

Filling in your options

Unified Checkout moves through three steps, just like the current checkout flow: Options → Review → Confirmation.

Your suppliers' options load one at a time. As soon as the first supplier is ready, you can start making your selections, so you don't have to wait for the others to finish loading.

A couple of things to expect on this step:

  • You'll work through one combined flow. The cart sidebar you normally see is hidden during Unified Checkout, so you'll stay focused on the suppliers you selected rather than switching between carts.

  • If something needs your attention, the supplier will show an error. Click that supplier's name in the header to jump straight to it and fix what's missing.

Reviewing and placing your orders

When you reach Review, you'll see every selection across all your suppliers in one place. Take a moment to confirm everything looks correct. Click Place all orders to submit them all at once. While your orders are being placed, stay on the page and don't close or navigate away. Once placement finishes, you'll land on a summary page that shows how many checkouts completed successfully, with a status for each supplier. From there you can:

  • Download receipts as a PDF or CSV (these cover the orders that were placed).

  • Return to shopping cart, or

  • View all order details, which opens your order history filtered to the orders from this session.

Carts that placed successfully are cleared automatically. Any cart that didn't go through stays in your cart so you can make the necessary updates or try again.

If a supplier's order can't be placed

If one supplier's checkout can't be completed, it won't stop the rest of your orders. That supplier will show an error along with a Proceed without this supplier button.

  • Click Proceed without this supplier (or simply continue with Next step: Review your order) to set that supplier aside and keep going. Suppliers you've set aside appear crossed out.

  • Watch for the reminder to check the warning messages before you continue, and scroll through your suppliers so you don't miss one that was set aside.

  • To place a set-aside order, check out with that supplier on its own after the Unified Checkout finishes. There's no retry button inside the flow.

Carts that need group approval

Carts that require approval from your group will not be able to go through Unified Checkout right now. If you include one, that supplier will show this message once the session starts:

This cart requires corporate approval. Please checkout with this supplier separately.

Set that supplier aside, place your remaining orders, and then check out with that supplier on its own, where approval works normally. Support for including approval carts in Unified Checkout is on the way.

Good to know

A few things Unified Checkout doesn't do today:

  • Future or scheduled orders: use single-supplier checkout for these.

  • Retrying a failed supplier within the flow: retry afterward through normal checkout.

  • Removing a supplier that's working fine partway through: to change which suppliers are included after you've started, cancel the session and start over. (Canceling isn't available once your orders are being placed.)

  • A single payment method across all suppliers: each supplier is paid as it normally would be.
